LM Studio is a free desktop application for running large language models (LLMs) locally on consumer hardware. Developed by Element Labs, Inc., it has become one of the most popular tools for local AI inference with millions of downloads worldwide.
LM Studio was created by Element Labs, Inc., a company based in Brooklyn, New York. The project emerged in response to the growing demand for accessible, privacy-focused AI tools that could run on consumer hardware.
